Bible verses

Every 6 weeks, Kara's Abeka curriculum has her memorizing large portions of scripture.  (Large for a 6 year old.)  Can you believe it's been 6 weeks already??  Here she is, reciting Genesis 1:1-5.  (She did it flawlessly in our home school room, she just got a tad nervous when the camera was on and missed a few words.  But, she did great!)

Wow! That's really amazing. My kids haven't memorized any Bible verses. Keep up the good work, Kara!

Starting at 3 or 4, she had one liner verses to memorize for church. I confess I wasn't super strict about them but Michael INSISTED she memorize scripture. It was extremely important to him, so we've both worked hard to make sure she memorized. Now this Abeka curriculum wants her to do big chunks. Even I don't know chunks that big. (Well, now I guess I do know what she does!) :)

We grew up memorizing verses. At church, camp and school. The older we got, the bigger chunks we had! Maybe that is why it was so important to Michael. So far my kids don't have the opportunity at any of those places so now I'm feeling like I need to take that up in bible club.

Liz, Bible club is an excellent place to have the kids memorize scripture......if you can get the parents to cooperate and make sure they learn them!

Great job, Kara! I'm so glad your daddy sees the importance of memorizing scripture! I wish I had that growing up, too, Jessica. It is very hard for me to memorize anything!
