Safeway coupon shopping 3-1-12
I saved a ton at Safeway today. Of course, stores like Safeway always have huge savings because their original prices are obscenely high. I had a problem with their systems scanning the coupons, so I probably won't be shopping there very much anymore. It's a long story, but my cashier was very sweet and I ended up using all the coupons I wanted to, so I'm happy. Here's what I did:
4 Nature Valley Granola Bars - $3.79 each
On sale for $2.50 each
Safeway coupon - $0.62 off each
2 Manufacturer's coupons - $0.75/2, $0.50/2 (both doubled)
Final price - $5.02, or $1.25 each
2 Boxes Honey Nut Cheerios - $4.79 each
On sale for $2.99 each
Safeway coupon - $1.00 off each
2 Manufacturer's coupons - $0.50, $0.50 (both doubled)
Final price - $1.98, or $0.99 each
2 Boxes Frosted Toast Crunch - $3.59 each
On sale for $2.99 each
2 Manufacturer's coupons - $0.75, $0.75 (both doubled)
Final price - $2.98, or $1.49 each
4 Pkgs Keebler cookies - $4.19 each
On sale for $2.99 each
Safeway coupon - 30% off
2 Manufacturer's coupons - $0.55/2, $0.55/2 (both doubled)
Final price - $6.16, or $1.54 each
4 Pkgs Dark Chocolate Keebler cookies - $4.19 each
On sale for $2.99
Safeway coupon - 30% off
4 Manufacturer's coupons - $0.55, $0.55, $0.55, $0.55 (all doubled)
Final price - $3.96, or $0.99 each
2 Krave cereal - $3.99 each
On sale for $2.50
2 Manufacturer's coupons - $0.70, $0.70 (both doubled)
Final price - $2.20, or $1.10 each
Grand Total for 18 items, $73.45
I paid $22.30
I saved $51.15
I saved 70%
And I got a $2 coupon for my next trip. I'll probably get more cookies, if you can believe it!
So, the original prices are ridiculous and I would never pay them, but the sales prices are pretty great. So, this is how I shop now - I get what's on sale when it's cheap, use a coupon if I can (preferably one that's less than $1 so it will double), and stock up until it'll be on sale again. My checkout looked pretty strange, but if their sales are for breakfast items and the new cookies that just came out, that's what I'm buying!
