Pottery

Kara is back in pottery classes, which she loves.  My sweet girl isn't a natural born athlete, singer, or instrumentalist, but according to the pottery teachers, she has real talent for pottery.  They love that such a little girl is interested, has talent for it, and pushes herself to learn.  You are supposed to be 7 to use the wheel, but before we went to pottery, she looked up you tube for children videos and watched people use the wheel over and over and over.  She learned, loved it, and now she's making things on the wheel, even at 6.  :-)

Here are the bowls she made on the wheel back in October that she is just now glazing

The bowl in front is the one she made yesterday - it has these really cool grooves going up the outside of it

And last week she made a large bowl, made the outside rim of the bowl wavy (kind of like a pie crust), then glued a clay butterfly to the inside bottom.  That is going to be soooo pretty.

Kara is definitely in her element, and the best part?  There's a little girl who's been coming for years who's 10 years old that was in Kara's class yesterday and they became fast friends.  She even plays minecraft and gave her the server name she plays on so they can play together.  Love it!

Besides pottery, Kara seems to be interested in horses again.  We never started lessons because she was interested in the fall, until it came time to sign her up and she said nevermind.  Well, she's interested again, so I think we'll sign her up for a few.  Again, you have to be 7 to ride the horses, but you spend time until then learning about the horses and grooming them.  All good stuff.
