Thursday, August 10
Thursday we wanted to head over to Vicky's house in time to go to the cemetery with Vicky. Jessica and Terry graciously took Kara with them to swim while Michael and I spent the morning with Vicky. It was the perfect meeting for us to go to because we were able to help with a few things here and there, but it was great for Vicky to not have to go alone. She has so much going on right now that she can't keep it all straight in her grieving mind. So, having us there with her helped her check out when she needed to and we covered the rest. And, we were laughing and carrying on there too!
Since Kara was happy with Jessica's crew, Michael, Vicky, and I went to a nice lunch at the Olive Garden and just took our time relaxing and visiting. With most of the visit being in such large groups, it was nice to have a little side bar with Vicky for a few hours. We also swung by the funeral home to let Vicky drop off the pictures she wanted scrolling through the funeral service.
We decided with a quiet house, and Michael and I (we are planners), it was a good time to work through some paperwork and insurance and closing accounts that needed closed. We sat with Vicky and took our time. I had Michael sit next to her and he could verify whatever she was thinking she would do and answer questions she had. He was the level head helping her through it. We decided to make a list of questions we had and I asked our finance guy if we could skype and talk to him and he was happy to make an appointment with him the very next day. So nice!
We did paperwork and talked through things and laughed about goofy jokes until Jessica and crew came home. Kara needed a wardrobe change so we swung by the hotel for a quick shower.
Here are some pictures from the day. Lots of goofing off. Tears allowed. Laughter allowed. Nothing is off limits. Nothing is inappropriate.
Hannah and Ryan were at church camp. While we missed them, Kara was able to really hang out with her other cousins and everyone had a wonderful time. They absolutely adore Kara and she absolutely adores them right back! Lord, your timing is perfect in all things. Even in church camp timing so Kara could spend more time with other cousins.
