Workout

Yesterday in Kara's horse riding lessons, they worked on strengthening Kara's core and legs - both of which are seriously important for riding horses.

First they worked on "stretching."  Basically, Ms. Amy wanted her to strengthen her core and legs by having her stretch and reach forward, backward, and side to side.  I also saw how this helped Kara realize she should never feel like she's going to fall off the horse, she's a lot more sturdy than she thinks.

Next they turned around and around in the saddle.  Good core strengthening, good reinforcement that she won't fall off easily.  Ms. Amy said she's going to get really fast at this one day and she'll start timing her soon.  :-)

Lastly Kara stood in the saddle to strengthen her legs, which do a lot of the work on horses.  Since she has virtually no muscle, this is going to take time.  :-)

After all that stuff, Kara worked on steering the horse with her reins, which Ms. Amy says she's doing really well with, and they went on a trail walk for a reward for her hard work.

Finally we watched Ms. Amy brush Strudel (Kara really should be doing this), and then fed Strudel an apple.

Today Kara has lessons again (what a blessed life my little girl gets to have) and she's riding a big horse.  I'm excited and taking it as a compliment, but Kara is disappointed she'll never see Strudel again.  She said, "can you please make sure Ms. Amy knows that I love Strudel?  Because if she knows I love her, she'll let me ride her more."  :-)  We're going to bring an apple for the horse she rides today, and an extra for Strudel.  ;-)

But, pottery lessons are first.  Yep, it's a blessed life.
