Day 5 - Second visit with Uncle Jay and drive to SFO
We started the day (Sunday) by checking out of the Ukiah hotel, and headed out to see my Uncle for the second time. We would have been well on our way to Oregon by now if we were doing the original plan with Christina. But, since she couldn't come, we canceled the things she was most excited about and spent a second day with Uncle Jay.
A few days before, I was telling them Kara had never seen a record or record player before, so when we got there Sunday, they had theirs out and ready for her to use/learn about. She thought it was interesting, but really just wanted to go outside and hang out with the kitties. :-)
Here we all are. We had such a nice visit.
Brother and sister. They dig at each other now and again just like sibilings do!
Sue's camera did a better job than mine. :-)
Kara and her new best friends. Those kitties fell in love with her. They gave Kara the brush and let her go to town.
On our way south from Nice, we stopped at the Santa Rosa location of Johnny Garlic's. Guy Fieri owns these restaurants - we watch him on food network ALL THE TIME. This was really cool.
We started with fresh, complimentary bread that you can see was infused with all sorts of goodies.
We weren't really hungry, so we just shared an appetizer. Chicken ranch bacon flatbread. Yummmm. This was even better than it sounds and looks. And it was the perfect special snack to enjoy since we weren't really hungry.
Kara just kept saying, this bread is sooo good! For such a picky eater, she loves italian herbs and spices.
After that, we headed back to San Francisco to the hotel near the airport so we could fly to Seattle the next morning.
I'm always shocked at how small/short the Golden Gate bridge is. The bay bridge here in Maryland that we drive about once a month to go see friends and go to the beach is 4.8 miles long. The Golden Gate bridge has to be less than a mile long. So teeny for such an icon. :-)
