Fjord Cruise - Day 4

We woke up this morning to no land in sight.  We were officially out on open waters and were able to get into the groove of being onboard.

We got breakfast at the Winjammer cafe, then played some bridge.

Then we got lunch at the Winjammer cafe, then played some bridge.

Then we ate dinner at the dining room, then played some bridge.

lol!  Exciting, huh?

But the day was completely relaxing and wonderful.  Thanks to Bonine (Dramamine doesn't work so well for me on ships), I felt great.  Not to mention they figured out our dining room table situation and we were officially sitting together for the rest of the cruise.

Breakfast was a large buffet of everything you could think of.  Eggs, bacon, omelet station, eggs with tomatoes, waffles, french toast, syrup under the warming lights, every pastry, bagel, bread, toast, etc. you can think of, fruit buffet, and the list goes on and on.  With a British head chef, he made sure to have British breakfast staples too - like baked beans.  So, I decided to have french toast one day, and waffles the next.  And go back and forth.  I may not have been taking advantage of that amazing spread, but those are my all time favorite breakfasts, and that's what I wanted on my vacation.  Michael, on the other hand, ate a HUGE breakfast every day.  He walked over to the omelet station and said he wanted one with everything in it.  I asked what 'everything' was and he said, "I don't know."  lol!  He had bacon on the side, several pastries, hash browns, etc.  He was living it up!!

Lunch was a large buffet with sandwich fixings, all sorts of breads, pastas with sauces, meats with sauces, burgers/hot dogs and fries, fish and chips, rices, huge salad bars (plural), casseroles, etc.  The grill in the back had something special every day.  Ribs, bbq wings, pulled beef bbq sandwiches, reuben sandwiches, etc.  And the desserts, OH the desserts.  The dessert buffets was something we all got used to really quickly and fell in love with GIANT dessert plates after lunch every day.  :-)

Dinner at the dining room was just as I remembered - a fabulous waitress and a separate a guy dedicated to bringing us bread and keeping our water glasses full.  The breads were SO GOOD.  We all loved having all the bread and butter every day.  So good.  Michael's favorite was the cheesy one, and my favorite was the pumpkin seed one.  Then the meals were amazing - duck, lamb, the most amazing prime rib I've ever had in my life, beef wellington, etc.  Everything was fabulous.  And the appetizers and desserts didn't disappoint either.  We all said at one point, "this is literally the best dessert I've ever had in my entire life."  That's pretty great!

Eating, visiting, moving at a slow pace, playing bridge, that's vacation to us!

One thing we noticed on our way up the water in between England and Norway is all the oil rigs.  Did you have any idea oil was such a big deal in Norway?  I had no idea, but now I know.  They were everywhere in the water.  We could see 3 at all times, from each side of the ship.

Can you see the oil rig in this picture?

Don't forget the towel animals every other night!  That night was a little elephant.  So cute!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that our room had a window.  (This picture was taken the next day when we were in Bergen.)  We paid quite a bit extra for this window.  We thought about getting a balcony room, but since so much of the trip was cold and windy, we decided a window was a good compromise.  It was so much fun to roll over in the morning and see if Michael was awake.  Then we'd both turn around and open the curtain like it was Christmas morning to see what our view was like that day.  :-)

Exposure set to see out the window.

Same picture, exposure set to see Michael reading in bed with the window in the background.

We were on the ship, no turning back, and enjoying the very beginning of a vacation of a lifetime!  Not missing Kara at all - I was certain she was enjoying vacation with her grandparents much more than she would have enjoyed being with us.  (And we were right.)
