Life Is Too Short

Last week, we got the phone call that a person in our lives took his own life.  My sister worked with him daily, Michael worked with him periodically, my dad worked with him periodically.  This was very hard on all of them, and then some.  I only met him a few times, but everyone says they don't know why he decided to do this.  What I knew of him was that he was young (29 years old), fit, healthy, very smart, and his career was taking off.  He had parents and siblings who loved him.  Friends who loved him.  On the outside everything looked great.  We don't understand.

While this young man's life is over, it got me thinking.

Life is too short not to let people know something is wrong.
Life is too short not to talk to a professional (for therapy, meds, whatever).
Life is too short to spend your days judging those who need it when you don't.
Life is too short not to ask someone how they are and genuinely care.
Life is too short to withhold your soul from our Creator.
Life is too short to say no to Him.
Life is too short and eternity is too long.
Life is too short not to live your life to the fullest.
Life is too short to say no to the next adventure.
Life is too short to live in the same boring town you hate when God is calling you to something exciting.
Life is too short to stay in the job you hate because it is practical and feels safe when God is calling you to something extraordinary.
Life is too short to not get married because you're afraid you'll fail.
Life is too short to not have babies because you're afraid they're too much work or too expensive.
Life is too short to stay unhappy and live every day like it doesn't bother you.
Life is too short not to figure out where God has designed your happy place to be, then go there.  As often as possible.  Whether it's the beach, the trees, on a ship, Europe, etc.
Life is too short not to travel and open your mind to this world God created.  To the way other people live.  To get some perspective.
Life is too short to live your life in your own little bubble, not thinking about/doing things for others.
Life is too short to hold a grudge - against your husband, your parents, your kids, or anyone.
Life is too short to hate your appearance.
Life is too short to care that you have stretch marks.
Life is too short to spend your days with your head down, working, working, working.
Life is too short not to stop and smell the roses.
Life is too short not to listen to everything your kids have to say about Minecraft or the book they're reading (or whatever boring thing they are excited to tell you).

Oh my, I could go on and on.

Life is too short to postpone letting God in.  If I am wrong, and there is no God, I spent my life full of joy, peace, love, and comfort.  If you're wrong and God does exist, what are you going to do?

Life is too short and eternity is too long to say no to God.
