Another yellow

Kara's kindergarten class has a disciplining technique that goes like this:
  * green = well behaved
  * yellow = had to be corrected by the teacher several times
  * red = could not get themselves together and had a bad day

Each day she brings home her color, which is usually green.  Twice she has brought home a yellow, and the other day she brought home her third.  (Her first yellow was for answering for her friend.  She was trying to be a know-it-all and a good friend at the same time.  Her little friend really struggles in school and Kara has taken her under her wing.  She helps her read and ties her shoes for her and things like that.  But, when the teacher tells Kara to stop, she needs to obey - no matter what.)  The second and third yellow were for talking and goofing off.  Fortunately am gets its own color and pm gets its own color, which gives the kids a chance to start over.  Anyway, tonight's punishment is no tv.  She is trying to pretend like she doesn't care, but I saw her eyes glistening with tears earlier when we were talking about it.  Not to be mean, but that's how I know it's working!  If she really didn't care, then it wouldn't be a good punishment.  Those of you who are moms know exactly what I'm talking about.  :-)

Only 8 full days of school left, and 4 half days left.  Hopefully we won't see another yellow!!

Now someone post on your blog, please!  It's been over a week.  :-D

Our elementary school has something similar. I think we have blue too. And one of them is a call home. Yikes! I hope she is "yellow free" the rest of the year. lol
