West Coast Vacation - Day 6
We woke up in our St. Helens hotel pretty sleepy since the people in the room above us decided to let their kids run around at 6:30am. When they proceeded to run around for 3 hours straight, without a break. Oh my. I wasn't too happy about that and I'm starting to think I need to request a top floor room from now on. :-/
After we left St. Helens, OR, we drove about 45 minutes to Kalama, WA to see the school from the movie.
A bathroom stop at the Olympic National Forrest had the coolest trees:
Back on the road again and we had glimpses of the ocean. We had to pull over for these pictures. Wow!
Back on the road and Christina took these from the passenger's seat:
Many hours later, we are finally here in La Push, WA. Here is the view from our deck:
Last year we stayed in Forks, which was nice and convenient because it has stores and restaurants, but we decided to stay 15 minutes down the road in La Push, right on the ocean, (even though there were no stores or restaurants) because it was so pretty. Good decision!
Then it was back to our cabin to watch the sunset from our deck:
Then the clouds rolled in too thickly and we didn't see any more. I was disappointed, but Kara was thrilled with the whole event and thought the sunset was beautiful. :-)
Fortunately, we all slept great - Christina and I were in a king sized bed, Kara was in her roll away, and Mom spent her second night on the fold out couch. Another giant room that was free, thanks to our gift cards.
By the time everyone was ready and breakfast was eaten, we were ready to go see more of where Twilight was filmed. If you saw the movie, you'll recognize these right away.
Bella's house
View of the city hall from the "dress shop" in "Port Angeles" (which is really St. Helens)
Where Edward saved Bella from those guys in "Port Angeles"

The school
After that, we were ready to head to the real Forks. The drive seemed to take forever, but we got back on 101 and saw amazing views again.

Kara waited patiently while we unpacked the van before we could go to the beach. She sat right down and played with rocks. Aside from electronics, this is why I don't buy her toys. :-)
Beach time! (Can you read that sign? It says Beach Trail.)
This washed up tree was massive and so much fun to climb on. It had to be a redwood - I don't know any other trees that get this big.
Mom with her feet in the water. Water. Her happy place.
See Kara at the top?
My pretty sister
Then we decided we were hungry and went to dinner. We didn't want to go all the way to Forks (about a 15-20 minute drive), so we found a place halfway there that was kind of like a diner. It was the only game in town and didn't have fabulous food, but they had a Twilight room, where we decided to sit. :-)

Time to go to bed and get ready to explore Forks tomorrow. :-)
This is how far we've driven:
