A Wrinkle in Time

I loved A Wrinkle in Time.  There were a lot of Christian influences and references, there was science fiction, there was a sweet family with people who feel left out but have each other, it was so good.

The three main women in the book that help the kids along their adventure reminded me of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  So, that was what I wanted Kara to write about.  I will confess I had to ask her to write an intro and conclusion because she didn't have one, then I helped her edit the Mrs. Whatsit paragraph.  She said she wasn't in the mood to write, but I wasn't cool with that excuse.

There are several comparisons between the Holy Trinity and the three ladies—Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which—from A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle. Some are unexpected, and some are strangely obvious.
Mrs. Whatsit talked the most to the humans and was their most human guide. She met Charles Wallace before the others, while Charles represents John the Baptist because he meets and connects with Mrs. Whatsit first as well as convinces the other people that Mrs. Whatsit is legit, Mrs. Whatsit can be compared to Jesus. One part of the book stands out as something that can be equated with Jesus. There was a time when Mrs. Whatsit transfigured into a kind, beautiful, magnificent, white creature with dignity, virtue, pure joy, and beautiful wings, while, in the Bible—Matthews 17, to be exact—Jesus transfigures into a white figure, whose face shone like the sun.
Mrs. Who first had to stay in her house, and Mrs. Whatsit brought the kids to her instead of her going to them.  This can be compared to God the Father because He sent Jesus to bring mankind to Him and seal that bridge. Her house certainly was not paved with gold, free of sin, and full of joy like the house of the One she represents.
Mrs. Which never fully appeared in human form, only as a spirit. As soon as they met her, she brought them to the first exoplanet, where Mrs. Which, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Whatsit helped the kids. In reality, as soon as the Holy Spirit comes in contact with people and are accepted and embraced by them, it helps guide them, with the others of the Holy Trinity at their side—Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit, guiding and helping each human on earth.

As with the Holy Trinity, some things about the three ladies are obvious and right in front of you—Mrs. Which and the Holy Spirit only appear as spirits being the most basic example—while some take some digging. But, unlike the three ladies, the more you unearth about the Son, the Father, and the Holy Spirit, the better it gets.
