Deep Creek Lake - Day 2

We woke up on our first full day in our vacation house feeling so groggy.  It was a brand new house - just built a few months ago, which means everything smelled new, looked new, and felt new.  You'd think that would mean the beds were super comfortable, but, they were NOT.  They were incredibly soft, so we all slept poorly all week long, and we all had permanently sore backs.  Except Kara, of course!  She slept great - she's 8.

The rain from the day before carried on through this morning, so Michael took Tony fishing and we waited for things to dry out.  When it was just cloudy, my dad played some golf, and us girls went to lunch and went shopping.  I bought a few more shirts and maybe some earrings too.  :-)

Our house.  It was perfection.  We are three families: one with a child, one with a dog, one that needs separate bedrooms.  This means we need 4 bedrooms, unless Kara gets her own room and we need 5.  This house had 3 master bedrooms upstairs, one was a king and the other two were queens.  Kara took a queen, my mom took a queen, and Christina and Tony took the king.  It was hot up there and they don't mind sleeping in the heat.  The first floor had a king sized master bedroom, which we gave my dad since he is always up early and would need in the kitchen first thing in the morning.  The basement had a king sized master bedroom, which was chilly willy, so Michael and I took it since we sleep best in the cold.

The second floor had the king bedroom on one side of the house and the other two on the other side of the house with a very large hallway in between.  It was so large there was a seating area with a window and the one side opened up to the first floor.

The first floor had my dad's bedroom, a very large kitchen, a dining room table that sat 10, a powder room, a family room, a large mudroom, and two sliding glass doors out to the small deck.

The basement had our bedroom, a large family room with fireplace & tv, and a pool table.  It also had a sliding glass door that went outside to the hot tub and fire pit.

This was the perfect house for our group.  I wish we could pick it up and take it with us to every single vacation we go to.

So, back to our day.  My mom, sister, Kara, and I went out to lunch while we were shopping, then we all went out to dinner.  Ah, I'm getting back into vacation mode again.  :-)

After dinner we had a fire and burned the damp wood.

Jake loved our vacation

Look at that water bubble out of that wood as we burn it!

Can you hear the sizzle?

Look who I got to sit next to.  He's the best.

More water being forced out of the wood as we burn it.  Cool.

You know what Jake's favorite part about being outside is?  Everything.  He even helped bring us firewood.  Either that or he played with the sticks we gathered.  Whatever.  :-)

Will someone please tell her mother to teach her to sit like a lady.  Geez!

She's posing for Tony's camera.

Cool picture of the spark flying while I snap away at Christina.

We *may* have been acting like huge goofballs every night by the fire.

Those are some HOT coals.

Time for bed!  This guy was hanging out on the door.  If I had better light and my other lens, this picture would have been much better.  I'm just glad he was outside and not inside!

I'm so glad the rain stopped!  Tomorrow will be nice and I'm looking forward to some sunshine.
